Memorial to celebrate the life of Per-Egil Ramuz Evensen


Per-Egil Ramuz Evensen passed away on September 5th 2016 in Houston, Texas at the age of 66 after courageously battling cancer. He lived a life of honor.


He was born in Ismailia, Egypt on the 27th of November 1949. In 1956, his family made their home in Norway after the Suez canal was nationalized. Earning a Masters in Business Administration at NHH Bergen, he developed a passion for cross-country skiing, debate and friendship. His career began at the Norwegian Ministry of Industry, focusing on energy policy. In 1976, a transition to Den Norske Credit Bank took him around the world. As a banker in Houston he was an integral member of the Norwegian-American community. He was a visionary for the establishment of the Norwegian Seamen’s Church in Houston. On holiday to the Cayman Islands he met his wife, Gail Aitken. In 1991 he launched Evensen Enterprises, serving the Gulf of Mexico and North Sea. His brilliant mind, deep thoughts, and contagious laugh, inspired others.


He is preceded in death by parents Rolv Olav Evensen and Ginette Ramuz. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Gail Aitken; his adored children, Ann-Kristin and husband William Besancon, Janette Grace and husband Arturo Seperack; and cherished grandsons Carson David and Asher Hudson; siblings Christian, Laila, and Marie-Anne Evensen, and extended family around the world.


The family will receive visitors in their home from five to eight on the evening of Thursday, September 15th. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at Chapelwood UMC, 11140 Greenbay St. in Houston on Friday, September 16th at one o’clock in the afternoon. Reception to follow.
